About the manufacturer

Janssens (imported by Exaco)

Janssens is a Belgian manufacturer that designs and builds aluminum and glass greenhouses, best known for the Royal Victorian, Junior Victorian, Orangerie and Retro lines. Every model is made to be a permanent, beautiful part of the garden, with rot-proof aluminum frames, real glass and roof vents for airflow.

Exaco is the company that imports Janssens greenhouses into the United States and supports them here, so you get European craftsmanship with US-based service and parts.

A T-shaped greenhouse, often called a T-shaped orangerie, has a center wing that sticks out from the main house, like the letter T. It gives you more floor space and a grand, garden-room look that a standard rectangle cannot match.

Which T-shaped orangerie should I choose?

Glass and aluminum (Exaco Janssens)

  • Junior T-Shaped Orangerie (10 x 13 ft): about 114 sq ft, with 5 ft side walls, automatic roof openers, gutters and a sliding door.
  • Royal T-Shaped Orangerie (13 x 16 ft): about 185 sq ft with tall 6'7" side walls.
  • Royal T-Shaped Antique Orangerie (13 x 16 ft): about 185 sq ft with a more decorative, old-English look.
  • EOS T-Shaped Royal Antique (13 x 13 ft): a compact version of the antique style.

Western Red Cedar (Alton)

  • Alton Cambridge and Alton Durham: T-shaped orangeries in warm cedar, each in three sizes, built with common rot points designed out.

Glass and aluminum or cedar?

Aluminum frames need almost no upkeep and suit both classic and modern homes. Cedar gives a natural, warm look that blends into a garden, and needs a protective treatment every few years. Our guide to wooden vs aluminum greenhouses compares them in detail. See more garden rooms in our orangery collection.

T-shaped greenhouse FAQ

What is a T-shaped greenhouse?

A greenhouse with a center wing that extends from the main body, forming a T. It adds floor space and gives an orangery-style look.

Is a T-shaped orangerie harder to install?

It has more parts than a rectangle, and the foundation must match the T shape exactly. Many owners use an assembly crew, and we can connect you with one.

Can I use an orangerie as a sunroom?

Yes. Many customers use them as garden rooms for seating and dining as well as growing plants.
